It's now an Olympic sport and hugely popular around the world, particularly in China from where many of the sport's best male and female players originate.

We offer a wide range of betting markets on all table tennis matches, so if you're looking for the latest odds on the action then you'll find it right here at William Hill. As well as match betting – on the outright winner of a given match – you'll also find:
Those aren't the only types of table tennis betting markets you'll find at William Hill: we also offer handicap betting on all the big table tennis matches. This is a popular way to bet on table tennis, especially when there is a strong favorite like China taking on an underdog, as it means you can win a bet on the lower-ranked opponent even if they don't pull off the upset.
With the majority of table tennis matches you'll find betting markets that lets you pick either side of a given margin of games won for each player. This means you can win your bet even if a player loses the match, as long as they do so by a lower margin than the handicap for that match.
In order to win a handicap bet on table tennis, you must pick the correct side of the handicap. For example, let's say China are playing Japan in the men's final. China are the favourites and the handicap has been set at China -2.5 games, Japan +2.5 games.
If you pick China in this example, they must win by at least three clear games for your bet to bet the winner. On the other hand, if you pick Japan +2.5, your bet will win even if Japan lose the final – as long as they do so by a margin of less than three games.
