Premier League Match Day 37
It’s the penultimate round of Premier League for the season and it all begins on Friday night, which unusually, hosts two matches. That’s because the fixtures involve Tottenham and Manchester United, who will meet in the Europa League Final on Wednesday, May 21st.
The first of Friday’s Premier League games is Aston Villa v Spurs, in which the home side will hope to further press home their claims for a top-five place in what is destined to be a very close finish. That same race for Champions League football will continue into the night’s other game, which is Chelsea vs Man Utd. The Blues stumbled last weekend in pursuit of a top-five finish and will hope their opponents have one eye on European success instead.
Saturday begins with a lunchtime kick-off at Goodison Park of Everton vs Southampton. There’s nothing at stake in the fixture with the Toffees safe and Southampton already relegated. But it will be an emotional afternoon, as it will be the final Premier League match played at Goodison before Everton move to their new stadium next season.
Saturday’s West Ham vs Nottingham Forest and Brentford vs Fulham fixtures also have European spotlights on them. Forest saw their Champions League chances slip last weekend in a draw with rivals Leicester, while Brentford kept up their great run of form to edge closer to European football.
Leicester vs Ipswich is an afternoon kick-off between two of the three relegated teams, before the focus shifts to the Emirates for Arsenal vs Newcastle. The Magpies moved within touching distance of Champions League football for next season by beating Chelsea last weekend. But they still need to get across the line, as do Arsenal, making this a match of huge importance.
Monday evening is Brighton vs Liverpool. The Seagulls still have a chance at reaching Europe too and will be hoping to produce a big three points against the champions. On Tuesday, May 20th, there are two further fixtures of Crystal Palace vs Wolves and Man City vs Bournemouth, which complete the round of action. The final round of this season’s Premier League action will be on Sunday, 25th May.
Most Popular Premier League Betting Markets at William Hill
We have a wide range of football betting markets in our sportsbook so you can fine-tune your options to perfectly fit your strategy. While the match outright market remains the most popular of all, you can explore a diverse range of options beyond that. Both for pre-match and in-play, here are some of the most popular Premier League betting markets.
Match Betting - The match betting market displays the Home Win, Draw or Away Win options. The market is for a single bet, like selecting Aston Villa To Win and it applies to the full-time result, which includes any added time.
Over/Under Betting - Predicting the total number of goals scored by both teams can be done with the Over/Under market. Punters have the option for total goals under or total goals over a set line. An example of a common selection is Over 2.5 Goals. You can choose different goal lines like Under 1.5 or Over 3.5.
Draw No Bet - The Draw No Bet option on a Premier League match returns a stake if the backed selection draws. If it was a Crystal Palace Draw No Bet option and the game ended in a draw, the stake is returned. The bet would settle as a win if the Eagles won, and as a loss if they were defeated.
Double Chance - A common Premier League bet, the Double Chance combines two of the options from the Match Winner 3-way market into one bet. It could be something like an Arsenal - Draw option, and the bet would win if either outcome happened.
Both Teams to Score - The popular Both Teams To Score market is a straightforward football betting option. With a BTTS pick, you select Yes or No on whether you think both teams will find the back of the net in the match, or not. The result doesn’t matter.
Half-time/Full-time - A double option where two factors have to be correct for the bet to win. In a Draw - Chelsea Half-time/Full-time bet, the match would have to be level at the break, and Chelsea winning at the final whistle. Options like Draw-Draw and Man Utd-Chelsea can be selected.
Correct Score - A testing market for football betting as the final result on the scoreboard is what matters. If you back a Tottenham 2-1 Correct Score bet, that is the only scoreline that would settle the bet as a win.
Goalscorer Markets - There are different approaches to goalscorer betting markets. The most popular are First Goalscorer, Anytime Goalscorer and Last Goalscorer. In-play you can also find Next Goalscorer, and even Over/Unders on how many goals an individual player or team will score.
To Win To Nil - You can back a team to claim a victory with a clean sheet. The To Win To Nil market is available, meaning that the backed team has to win without conceding, and how many goals they score isn’t relevant.
